What is a Insulation Tester?
An insulation tester applies a high DC voltage (250 V to 5 kV and above) and measures insulation resistance, revealing degradation in cables, motor windings, transformers and switchgear before it causes a failure or shock.
We supply analog and digital insulation testers, including high-voltage and PI/DAR diagnostic models, from MECO, with Metravi and Sonel models available on request.

What test voltage do I need?
Use a test voltage suited to the equipment's rating — e.g. 500 V for general LV wiring, 1 kV–5 kV for motors, cables and HV equipment. We match the tester to your highest routine task.
What is a good insulation resistance value?
It depends on the equipment and standard, but higher and stable is better; falling readings over time signal degradation. PI and DAR ratios help judge winding condition.
